“We are all bound up together in one great bundle of humanity,
and society cannot trample on the weakest and feeblest of its members without receiving a curse in its own soul.”

Take a look at our brief introduction to One Folkestone – to give you some idea of what we’re all about.
This website is under continuing development – it’s an ongoing work in progress… last edited in July 2025, with input from like-minded people – friends, advisors and supporters. Thank you all.
We are adding more information about this new community platform bit by bit: our aim is to comment on social, political and general issues with a particular relevance to the Folkestone community.
Wherever possible we engage with representatives of the ‘third sector’ – community groups and charities – and with community representatives at all levels of government.
We are entering a period of change: 2025-2030 will see changes in local government, public services and all of this will directly affect our community and our communities.
There are clear signs of a growing divide, globally and in our streets: those who blame and denigrate others, whose driver is often a mixture of self-importance and self-interest, which is violently exclusive.
In contrast, there is also immense generosity in evidence everywhere: individuals and groups continue to give their time, passion and personal resources for collective benefit and to show real moral purpose.
We don’t all work in the same way, but it is not hard to admire and respect other people for what they do.
Together, we all need to share common purpose – to challenge and work as a community to address the growing inequality of those who have health, security of a place to live, lives which are enjoyable on a daily basis and those who do not have these opportunities.
To do so, means supporting the activists and practical work of volunteers, collectives and others; we need to call our elected representatives present and future to account – for their commitments, priorities and responsibilities to work with and for us. If not, we have ourselves to blame for the impact on our daily lives.
Have a look at some of the first links we’ve put together which we hope will support people in our local community on the Help and Support page – with a special section for families – maybe you could suggest some useful info about the Folkestone community we could usefully add to the site…
We’ll be adding a directory in the next few months for some of the amazing partnership groups in Folkestone and the surrounding area and making this easy to search if you need help or know somebody you want to help. Please do let us know if you have suggestions…
Our working title for this project is Joined Up Thinking!
Thank you for your interest and your input via our social media and in conversations, meetings and other ways…..
For now… we have assembled a few starting points:
